Many songs have been devoted to this traditional german liquor — famous Jägermeister. Literally the name of the beverage is translated as a senior jaeger. Its exact composition is under lock and key. But it is well-known that it is obtained by maceration of the 56 plants, including licorice, citrus, cinnamon, anise etc. As well, it refers to bittters and tinctures. It was originally manufactured to cure deseases, but the liquor impressed people with its taste so much that they even started drinking it for fun, joy and delight. You are supposed to drink it chilled, but there are quite a lot of other ways to consume this drink. There is a deer pictured with a cross between his spikes on the label of the bottle. There is a very interesting story about the creation of this liquor. According to the legends, once duke Hubert, hunting for the deer in the forest, saw the deer that had a shining cross between its spikes. Hubert considered this meeting to be a sign from heaven so later he gave up his possessions and became a monk. Since that time he spent his time on praying and creating healing medicine. But alas it was not him who was the creator of this amazing drink but Curt Mast created the liqueur in 1934. He was just so impressed with the story of the bishop that he decided to devote his drink to this monk.
